Why install tracking?
GPS tracking results in efficiency in operations, limits losses due to theft and optimises use of machinery and equipment resulting in a trim bottom line with reduced costs by way of employee hours, reduced loss due to inappropriate use or timely servicing of equipment, fewer thefts, reduced insurance and gain in efficiency by saving time, allocating jobs and resources.

What can be tracked?
Tracking is a broad term. Items to be tracked can be anything from a computer to a huge earthmover.
Our current system meets most requirements for construction industry, equipment hire, and anyone with outdoor assets - even a boat on a trailer outside the home can be tracked.

As a part of tracking we provide motion sensor reporting, zoning, position reporting and optional custom reporting on run time meters, out of hours usage, run time based on engine running time, run time based on motion and many other configurable parameters required for a specific industry.
GPS tracking technology is line of sight therefore assets that are indoors and underground cannot be position tracked. However the GPS units that Global GPS install support motion sensor reports and we have had instances of users putting battery powered units in data cupboards to track access time to folders containing secure data.
For any tracking there is no silver bullet, no one solution that can meet all requirements, that's why Global GPS will design a solution tailored to customers' individual needs. Tracking has been used to track live stock, wine bottle cartons to pharmaceutical shipments and water tanks. Global GPS service provides general off-the-shelf solutions and custom solutions for your specific requirements. Most of our solutions are based around the programmable Trimble TrimTrac Pro GPS units, Iridium modems and custom sensors.
What is Asset Tracking?
This is a monitoring solution for outdoor field assets like machinery, boats on trailers, cable drums, road signs and anything of value that is outdoors and seldom moves. Any movement of the asset is an event and you would be notified.
The motion sensor of the unit watches for all motion and vibration. As soon as it detects one, the unit sends out a message to the phantomEye control centre and we then route it to you. Thereafter the location is sent at 10 minutes intervals for as long as the motion lasts. The unit can either be 4xAA alkaline battery powered or permanently installed in the equipment.
What is Fleet/Vehicle Tracking?
This solution is for everyone and anyone who has a fleet of vehicles that need GPS Tracking and Monitoring. We provide a web based solution. Fleet Track is an economical solution for small and medium businesses, that want to become operationally smart, streamline processes and keep a lid on wastage of time and resources.
What is Personnel Tracking?
When a solution is needed for a person in the field to regularly send his/her location at pre-determined intervals or distance - also known as the bread crumb effect - or to send an emergency alert, via a smart man down system.
What is Life Assist?
Life Assist is a new breed of mobile phone based technology that enables the mobile phone device and the Internet determine the location and welfare of a person.

How does Man Down work?
Data from the user's cell phone is processed on the cell phone before it is sent to the Global GPS M2M platform. The Global GPS M2M platform provides a web based interface for a monitoring company or any individual to control and manage all cell phones remotely and provides for data storage, reporting, exception monitoring, alert and notification and mapping for GPS data.
What mobile phones are compatible with the software?
At the moment Nokia N95 and 6110 Navigator are compatible as they are navigator phones and have an inbuilt Gyroscope needed for the Man Down service. Gyroscope is the mechanism in which can decipher which way it is being held. We are currently developing software to be compatible with Blackberry handsets.
How is the software accessible?
The software is installed on the phone handset by Global GPS staff. The control centre is accessible via your web browser.
What do I need to do to upgrade the software?
The system uses a web based interface for all its features, including upgrades. It does this automatically so there is no need to do it yourself.
Do I need to change my phone carrier?
No, Global GPS works with your current carrier for communications.
